I put my horses out just before 6am.
They are snug with layers of rugs and would prefer to spend a few hours out.

I went back at about 8.30 , so they had been out about 2 1/2 hours.

This is what i saw!

It was -6!

-6 too when ours went out this morning! Both had frosted whiskers when we got to the yard too! Ours will be out all day - I can't believe it's that much warmer inside than out!
Cool pics!

Where abouts are you?

Its soo cold.
The automatic troughs in their stables have frozen so im having to use buckets, but the main tap on the yard is also frozen solid so i have to luge water around from the other tap!

I'm in ciren. I think last night was our coldest so far, not one tap working on the yard and I couldn't get the inside one working for love nor money! Ice cubes for water troughs which is a bit of a pain too! I'm mainly gutted that we have all the cold weather and frost, but no snow, how rubbish is that?!!

Doynton looked like a christmas card this morning - very picturesque. Lacey is out with snuggly rug. Water feeders frozen, tub trugs outside just blocks of ice, tub trug in stable just about useable. Taking containers of water out from home. Warmer out with rug wandering about and playing than staying in.

I'm just outside Ciren and my yard thermometer said it was -11 this morning! My lot are still out though! All have haylage, rugs, and can get into shelters, so they're not going to die...

Yikes, that is cold!! Ours are out too. Rugs and hay make the weather perfectly bareable for them. Most of the yard hasn't been out for over a week, not sure why it is thought that they are better off in a freezing stable eating hay, than stood in a freezing field eating hay! I really would like a thaw asap though as defrosting taps, and lugging buckets of water out to the field is rather loosing its appeal!

-6 -that's balmy! It was -16 when I went to see mine this morning and that still hadn't lifted at 11am. The track to the field is too compacted with ice to safely put them out now so they are in their shed, plenty room only 3 in a large sheep shed but by god it was cold, doubled up the stable rugs and added hoods as old man not drastically cosy. They have adlib hay so I'm not worried about them now, just hope to god it gets milder soon. Having to fill the water trough from the burn is getting wearing!

Its minus 7 here last night, and hasnt got above freezing today
Its all so pretty, but im starting to get fed up about the lack of water in the house now.:(

Iv got family in Scotland, ive heard it has reached - 18!

I dont envy you!

Yeah my horses are out all day with doubled up rugs when in and out.
Along as they have access to water, ( that we have to break!) and something to eat, they would much prefer to be out!
