Hi,

I posted a little while ago about marco, my thoroughbred, basically he has been diagnosed with grade 3/5 ataxia and spinal cord compression, more commonly known as wobblers.

Vet advised to give marco a steroid injection to reduce inflammation around the cervical vetebrae, which will supposedly fix the problem.

5 weeks on, marco is showing no improvement, i think he's getting worse, vet checked him today and said to just carry on hacking and doing lots of polework. He said it could take 4 months to show any improvement. although, most horses show improvement by 3 weeks.

I just looked at some wobblers videos on youtube, and i would say the horses shown are worse than marco, but he is not far from it. i am now actually crying cos i dont want him to get that bad, and although vet is still positive he will improve, i am yet to come accross a horse that has had it and has returned to normality.

Does anyone know or have a horse that has or had wobblers?

thanks for reading,

the mctimoney chiro lady i used to use (before moving away from her area) told me she'd had success with curing some wobblers. pm me if you would like her name.
really hope you manage to find a way to improve him, poor lad.

I'm so sorry because I know how horrible this is - I lost my little man (RIP Henry Rose) to wobblers - I'd had him since he was 6 months old.

I understand how bl***y vile it is to watch them with it.

BUT he didn't know where his back feet were which he found very distressing.

Why not give yourself a bit of time - it will be very very hard and you'll spend a lot of time crying but he may improve. And if he doesn't you will have done everything possible which is a comfort.

Big big big hugs, try and take a day at a time but set yourself a time limit (say another 6 weeks) then reassess

xxxxxxxx
