Hello,
My two year old tb X trekehner mare, I noticed the other day has a strange movement by her stifle joint, instead of going forwards it seams to move out wards, and it makes it look wobbly! She is not lame on it, or appears to be in discomfort. I was just wondering if anyone knew what it was or had a horse with a similar condition I will try and upload a video to show the movement if possible! Thank you!

Thank you if she has this will she still be able to go on and be ridden? I got her as a potential eventer, would she be able to do this type of work if she has a locking sticky stifle? Thank you

I've had a couple of youngsters show this 'loose' stifle action. In the absence of any lameness - or swelling around the joint - I would NOT be concerned. These youngsters DO benefit from being in a hilly field, if possible, but ours have always strengthened up and improved once they start work - if not earlier! It WOULD be worth getting your vet to have a look next time he's out, just to rule out any inflammation in the joint area (which CAN be hard to spot.)
