Lilah has a wolf tooth, despite at her vetting being told she didnt Its on the top and is not visible, but I can feel it, and its.. for lack of a better word - spikey! I'm getting out dentist asap, but could anybody tell me if a wolf tooth in the top jaw is likely to cause bitting problems, or even how much they cost to have removed? Just curious, I don't want it removed if its not causing her discomfort. Thanks!

Sorry if this doesn't help but I had a pony that when vetted I was told it had had its wolf teeth out then a few months later I felt something and had vet out he said they had been pulled out before they were through and had been broken so only part was left. Vet couldn't do anything until they were the whole way through. Eventually they were through pony had to be put under general anesthetic to have them out. Obviousley this cost alot more than it would usually and he had to have time of before and after.

If the horse is a youngster it may be a problem with a regular tooth, I would not expect any vet to miss something as simple as a wolf tooth.
If it is, best to have it out. Only costs £10ish and can save a lot of hassle if it does interfere with the bit - which depends on size/angle/shape.

Thans vicijp, she is 9, and I'm afraid it is definately a wolf tooth. I am suprised too, and only checked because she was a bit fussy when I took a contact, and also tosses her head occasionaly. Would you recommend a vet or an EDT to remove it? I know I'll need a vet anyway for sedation etc

My 3 year old had 3 wolf teeth out a couple of weeks ago. Vet did it under sedation. Had no difficulty at all and TBH I don't think ponio even noticed anything had happened!
