Micah is having one out tomorrow. Dentist said to give him 2 or 3 days off, vet said a week.

Don't think I would fancy only giving him 2/3 days for a hole to heal to be honest

Did you do anything special for them? i.e wet food or hay etc?
 
7-10 days minimum with no bit but you can lunge etc or go bitless

Nothing special needed, WT removal doesnt affect their eating! One thing you can do is to stick the hose in their mouth daily to wash out any garbage that may be sitting in the removal holes
 
Following day we were jumping in a Hackamore, the horse was so relieved to be shut of them as they had grown into hooks.
 
My mare had to be heavily sedated in the vets surgery as her root was humungous and she wern't having none of it - she could barely stand when he'd finished she was that sedated yet she still ate her hay so no she didn't need any special feeding, however, I was told 3 weeks without bit (but that may be because she was so sore) she had 2 out - one was horrendous other was normal. good luck.

having youngsters, we're always whipping out wolf teeth and there is no RIGHT answer to how long they need off - until you get the tooth out! You can have a teensy little wolf tooth with a HUGE root that requires deep level mining to remove - or a great BIG wolf tooth you can pick out in 5 seconds with barely a drop of blood.

If it's a big root, a week is needed. A teensy root, 2 days might be ample.

I don't do much after - check it looks clean and if it was a deep root, I might flush a bit of normal saline at the hole to keep it clean, otherwise leave it alone.
 
When my mare had one of hers out (the tooth broke), i was there watching the whole time

like to think i gave her comfort ( when really it was me that needed it) i gave her 2 weeks off, it's a big deal for them, she had to be heavily sedated and the needle was huge.... to numb her face, she was in a sorry sate after the op, was very lucky as the tooth came out whole, took Liphook 3 hours to remove the tooth and two days stay at Liphook with lots of pain killers. then i had to wash the mouth out 4/6 times a day for a wk or so, the hole also was packed and needed redressing by the vet every few days

I had a youndsters wolf tooth out in the field under sedation vet said it was a big one put it just popped out easily, it took around 1 min to pull out.
He had 1 week off and was fine to ride.
 
My mare had a pretty big one out, she had it for years and it never bothered her but then it came loose so had to come out.... I was told to give her two weeks off from being ridden, she could still be lunged but couldn't have a bit in her mouth
