Also posted in vet, but more people look here. Lilah has a wolf tooth, despite at her vetting being told she didnt. Its on the top and is not visible, but I can feel it, and its.. for lack of a better word - spikey! I'm getting out dentist asap, but could anybody tell me if a wolf tooth in the top jaw is likely to cause bitting problems, or even how much they cost to have removed? She doesnt completely accept the bit yet, but then she's barely been bitted 2 months. Just curious, I don't want it removed if its not causing her discomfort. Thanks!

i had my horses wolf tooth removed , the vet said it wouldnt cause problems but i had the dentist out and he recomended it be removed as it as also gone spikey, after it was removed (which didnt cause any discomfort) she was better in the mouth as she didnt try to pull away from the bit anymore. it didnt cost me much either.

vet took one out of top of my boys mouth a few weeks ago and wow what a differrence it made to him, before he was avoiding the left rein and wouldn't canter on the left easily but after totally different, i put off taking it out - thinking the left thing was because he was a baby but wish i hadn't he is so much better now and his was only small and wobbly but i think just get it out now, think vet charged about £65 as used alittle dope etc to ease the pain but it was so quick and H hardly flinched.

ive just this week had my new horseys wolf teeth out on his vetting my vet recomended i had them out so had them taken out on friday my vet sedated him an then my dentist took them out took about 2 mintues.

replied in vet but dont have it taken out without IV sedation (domosedan sedative has an analgesic in it for pain relief) Horses can be very tolerant but doesnt mean its not painful....would you like a tooth pulled without anesthetic (in horses case sedative and analgesia and maybe local IV anesthetic depending on the size of the tooth)?
