I won £20 worth of vouchers through a Your Horse online competition. Only thing is I feed Simple Systems so i'm unsure as to what to get. First thought was Lo-Cal but on checking it contains molasses which I want to avoid. Then thought of the Stud Balancer but that also contains molasses. Only other thing is Outshine which on checking seems ok, always thought it seems an expensive way of feeding oil but as I'll only have to pay £10 I thought it was worth a try.

Any other suggestions or feedback on Outshine?

Why not speak to the nutritionists at Baileys first of all and ask them for suggestions. They don't mind, even if you're feeding someone elses feeds. As for the Outshine, suggest you get a trial sample from Baileys first of all, as we also won a recent competition with Baileys (to feed one of our horses for 4 months) and after they worked out what feed for him, we started him off including some Outshine and he wouldn't touch his feed. We then had to change feeds on a near daily basis and discovered that every feed that had Outshine in, he wouldn't touch. We also tried it on a few of our others and they wouldn't touch it as well. Baileys said to us that sometimes horses do object to this. I mentioned this to our local feed merchant who said they have a lot of people coming in to the shop saying their horses won't eat feed with Outshine as well - they said it smells sort of "fishy" which may be putting the horses off. But do speak to Baileys, they have been fantastic in sorting a feed out for our boy, and we're pleased to say that what they've put him on now, he's eating up and looking very well.

If you don't want to change your feeding regime from Simple SYstems, find out which charity uses Baileys and donate them?

Agree with LCobby (well actually I was going to say sell the vouchers to a friend for £10! But charity is a much better idea). I never enter feed competitions unless it's a long-term one (win feed for a month or more) or if it's for stuff I'm already feeding. I don't like chopping and changing my horse's feed just because I've won a free bag!

I wasn't going to change from SS, I'm just looking at the Feed Balancer type feeds that they do to add to his existing feed.

I am a charity

I've ordered the Outshine through my YO and should be here tomorrow

He's hardly touching his feeds as it is (was gobbling SS up when we changed to it 6 wks ago but now he barely touches it) so I'll see how we get on.
