Wonder what sort of home she could end up in at a £1

I was doing the same and noticed her too, poor wee mare, she could end up anywhere at that price - hopefully the seller knows what they are doing and will vet the buyer so she ends up somewhere decent!

Shoot me down if you wish but with the usual 'oh you don't know the back ground blah blah blah but idiots like this really annoy me.

'I am having to sell her as we have far too many ponies and need to cut down - others also available.'
'We are looking to find a nice kind home with nice kind children for pepsi as we have far too many ponies'
'I am looking to find a nice home for song as we are ridiculously overstocked and need to cut down. Others ponies available.'
'We are looking for a nice kind home with nice kind children for sherbie as we are ridiculously overstocked and have several other ponies waiting to be put in the school.'

The above are all quotes from the seller. Heres a novel idea....STOP BREEDING PONIES YOU HAVE NO TIME FOR!!
I'm sorry if this offends anyone but just because it has a womb and you have another withs balls does not mean you should put them together. Surely to goodness seller can work out that she had enough ponies already and breeding a few more was a no go????

I have just come across that ad as Im looking for a new welshy and I couldnt help but thinking someone is going to buy that pony just to make a quick profit at an auction, if she was younger I would buy her myself just to prevent it poor thing

WoopsiiD - I couldn't agree with you more, why keep breeding if you can't take responsibility for them, and by selling for a £1 is in my book totally irresponsible.

I hope some knowledgeable buys her and offers a home she deserves.

It makes me cross.

There always is another side to the story but that is still no excuse or defence for over breeding in my opinion.
...Can you tell I'm against breeding without just reason???? Breeding for the sake of it is wrong no matter who or what you are.

Totally agree with Woopsiid. Another thing that sets alarm bells ringing is that she is almost 15 and 'hasn't been handled much'......why? I think this explains why she is for sale for £1, she's probably quirky and they can't be @rsed to work with her so oooh I know, lets just use her as a broodmare and bring even more stock into the overpopulated equine world!

its too easy to breed a horse - theres enough welsh a's in the world as it is. tbh id rather have a pony like that pts than give it awy at almost 15..... what kind of life isi it going to have.

no doubt i'll get shot down for that.

I clicked on the link and it was just a link to her riding school web site. I don't know what you mean by another side to the story, i maybe missed something.
I think it is irresponsible to advertise a pony for £1, it is up to her of course as it is her pony but this is just perfect for the dodgy dealers. I know she said that she wanted a good home for her but these dealers don't go in honestly. My wee welshy was advertised by his previous owner and stipulated no dealers. The dealer went in and posed as a private buyer and that she wanted the pony for her daughter. It was total rubbish, he was bought to sell on. She even bragged about it to me. These people are unscrupulous.
Who else really is going to want to buy this wee pony if she is almost wild, unless her bloodlines are so good that a breeder would want her.

Look like the school isn't doing too well and they are reducing stock, why else would you sell off near perfect riding school ponies to 'bring others into the school'? Ponies that are safe to teach children to ride and like gold dust and are not passed on. And those they are selling are not at the lower end of the market, so these people know the value of a pony. If they are trying to get £1 for the older mare there is a good reason.....
She doesn't look like a mare been used for breeding, neither does she look like a quality A IMO. I'd suggest all is not as it seems....
But FWIW I totally agree with those above and you shouldn't breed from stock because you can and because it might be nice for her to have a baby. There are too many horses around as it is, as people like these seem to be finding out.

i wont shoot you down for it,,,

if it comes to it its better the mare goes for meat now than gets bought for a quid and passed around the markets to eventually end up as meat anyway.
of course it would be lovely if she gets a fabulous home that keeps her forever and loves her loads, but how likey is it?

Well if they are doing it for attention, its not the right attention to be associated with.

Wouldn't have thought that they would be doing the riding school's reputation any good either.

wish she was a bit bigger as she would proberly make a good first pony. I hope someone nice buys her

Hardly, she is 15 and has hardly ever been handled. This is why people are concerned that she may not get a suitable home but could well be bought by people who know little and only see the price-tag.

I would never do that... I wanted a good home for my horse who is meant to become a broodmare, and I advertised mine for a sum that would normally be paid for a ridden horse. It wasn't the money I was after though - just to weed out those people who think "bargain", and in the end, she's going to go to a loan home instead.

with certain horses i do think thats sometimes its kinder if you cant secure their futures pts is the only option. (or meat man however id pts). personal choice.

:( I emailed a woman once selling her mare for £100 warning her that she could end up in the wrong hands. (prob though i was a nosy old bat :D) But to sell any horse for £1 is not good :(

too many of these recently. on the breeding side Im on a few groups on Facebook, it astounds me the amount of people letting any old mare run with any old colt because they couldnt afford I assume to get it cut.

Then trying to sell these little ponies who could all be in foal! does wind me up, why cant people just think for a minute and be a tiny bit more responsible rather than passing on their problems to others all the time.

t just because it has a womb and you have another withs balls does not mean you should put them together. Surely to goodness seller can work out that she had enough ponies already and breeding a few more was a no go????

Hear hear :L this made me laugh. But really, you'd think people would be more responsible? :S

I know this woman and went to the riding school for many years, I did leave about 4 yrs ago tho.
I was quite suprised at the price of this pony, normally the womans big money making sceme was to buy the ponies from the sales for a couple of quid, use them in the riding school for a couple of years and then sell them on for £3000!!!!

She has way too many ponies, all of them tiny little welsh A's. I feel sorry for this poor little mare. :( I hope she goes to a nice home :o

I used to ride with this lady, quite a few years ago now, and I can tell you the riding school is very popular so it's not that it's doing badly that's making her sell. She has an awful lot of ponies and many of them are very good quality. I would imagine she saw this, felt sorry for it, got it thinking she'd have time to do something with it and now she's got no time due to the number of ponies she has.
I totally agree that ponies shouldn't be breed if they're not going to have anything done with them but she won't have breed this. So yes I agree it's a shame but no one would give any money for it so she couldn't ask much but at least if a pound is paid it will be an official sale. There maybe someone out there looking for something to stick out with their youngsters to keep them company or something but hopefully if it does sell it'll go to a nice knowledgeable home.

(I'm not just saying this because I know her, I haven't seen her for years but unfortunately it's too late to un-breed it so I guess something has to happen to it now - even if that means going to the meat man.)

sell for a £1 or have put to sleep ......IRO £200. that is probably the advertisers thoughts!!!! shame at nearly 15 and relatively unhandled probably will never be human friendly! and if pony doesnt have a section 9 in its passport it wont be worth anything as cant go for meat. i agree with above posts about breeding! cant actually work out why people do it .. cheaper to go buy a 3 year old of the right size color sex temp confo and bring it on to do the job!

Totally agree.

Poor horse, I really do wish she gets a good home, personally think there is more to the story though for only £1.00.

I feel for the mare - she deserves to have a good future but with little handling and such a low price it doesn't seem likely that she will.

I'm sure that even the ILPH would want a greater donation than £1 if they took her...

Got it in one. I work for the lady in question. Not going to go into it on here as i dont agree with airing dirty washing online with people i dont know. Feel free to PM me though.
