My foal, Tanzy (by Primitive Star) was one of a twin (the other foal, Archie, sadly died after 4 days of fighting) so has had a pretty rough start in life. Being small and weak she has spent a lot of time in the stable under vets orders.

Now after 5 weeks she is small but healthy and viable (yay!!) but sadly our next project is straightening her very wonky leg. It is splinted and has to be changed daily, and she is on a further 3 weeks box rest to try to prevent any further damage to the joint.

I was just wondering are there any suitable foal licks/toys/ANYTHING I can do which might help her boredom? My mare is coping really really well bless her, but am worried about them being cooped up for so long. Any hints/tips/helpful comments???

Thanks!!

Have you asked this in Breeding?
Hpe littlefolais soon out running around. Good luck.

We put large soft toys in our foals stable so he had something to cuddle up to or toss around!!! We also drilled holes in fruit and veg, threaded a leadrope though and hung it up like a kebab...careful they can't bonk their heads on the larger veg!!! We also put a large solidish ball (very large tennis ball) for him to roll around.
Some people have told me about mirrors on the wall or hiding treats in the bedding for him to find.
I hope any of the above helps.
