It's been long since I was out on the hunting field. And never on a green pony....
So the 30th November meet with the CLC was in hack able distance, and I was off work (more importantly was off today as well...recovery time needed).
Plaited up night before as hadn't plaited a light horse for years ( can do a shire). Had to buy new stock as old one had some weird stuff growing on it, last used in 2005 I think...
Arrived at meet, this was wasmy fear was. Friend on very experienced hunter who is known to buck at the horn and me on a pony who I had no idea how she was gonna cope with the set off. She only tried to dig a hole to china once .
Anyway she was brilliant. Stayed at the back and just followed and kept up all the time we were out.
Galloped across the commons and through the woods. Heard "ditch" too late was in it, we need to learn jump over not bounce in and bounce out either way tackled nicely. Took a corner too tight hit deep mud and thought that was me off, heard almost shouted at me by a guy on a quad, as she slipped but was so impressed that instead of panicking she just powered on through and I kept on board.
Some bloody good riding and a few fences (one which made my good friend join tumblers) and definitely something we can do again over the moon with my 14.1hh pony bought from market and from Gypsy driving background three years ago.
We left the meet after four hours out as we were still heading away from home and no one was sure if we were drawing the village we were on livery amd was planning to leave then. Spent about an hour of the hack home lost but it was fine because we had port and Chocolate buttons to keep us going and both of us with massive smiles on our faces.
Few pictures taken by my friend and a link to the meet gallery.
Samba says cheers
