My mare has taken to wood chewing.
She does have happy hoof, codlivine supplement and farriers formula plus access to a mineral lick but she is chewing the wooden stable door surrounds.
Any ideas and whats the best thing to put on the wood to stop her?

there is a product we used with a naughty chewing puppy we had who had a taste for wood.. i will try and find out if its suitable for horses!
Is she stressed in any way???

Is she bored? maybe she could do with some stable toys to fill her time .

Is it in her stable or field??

If it's in the stable then the most likely cause is that she's bored. Buy some of that special paint stuff that tastes bad which make help.

Also, is she just chewing the wood, or biting it, pulling and making a wheezing noise, you get get crib collars which can stop them doing this too.

Go out and buy her one of them stable ball things. Or the toys that hang in the stable door opening bit.

I was going to ask about this too

My horse has taken to this but he lives out with 24/7 access to his stable, I think it's boredom with him as he's been spending a lot of time inside due to flies & headshaking.

I've put a couple of dangling salt licks up but it doesn't seem to be helping
