As above really. Has anyone experience of using wood pellets (the type used as bedding) as an arena surface, either on its own or mixed with another material. Some of the manufacturers state it can be used for all weather surfaces but cant find out any more info.

Never heard of it being used this way and can't imagine how it would work. As soon as it rained it would turn to woodsand which would then compact horribly, lumpily and with no spring to it - just like it does when it gets weed on.

I put woodchip down in my well drained paddock 2 years ago and it was great at first when we went through a winter of -10 degrees, but this winter its turned to a soggy muddy mess with all the rain we've had and I so regret putting it down now, if you are going to use it make sure you've got good drainage otherwise it'll be a nightmare, I've now to employ someone with a digger to rake it all up, nightmare !!
