Wood Pellets for Shelter?

Good evening all! Does anybody use wood pellets for bedding in a field shelter? Or recommends something else? Our mini with EMS has a roomy shelter with just a dirt floor. We just have mud mats in there at the moment and have previously had shavings, but the pony just likes to pee in there (have never seen him lie down in there). He has a little companion coming soon who is used to being stabled with a lovely bed and I wondered if putting some wood pellets down might be good option? Have no experience with them though so just collecting thoughts.

I've used them but my wooden walls went mouldy after a while! Be careful

I use them in mine, have done for some years now and happy with them (block work not wooden).
