Sorry if this has been done to death and then some.... I'm converting to wood pellets, how many 15kg bags would I need to lay a bed in an 11.5ft x 11.5ft stable?

I only want the bed over the back half of the boxes and have matting down. Only reason I'm asking is off to buy bags on sat from local place so don't want to buy too little or too much!! Probably most expensive way if doing it but can't take a delivery right now.

My stable is 11 x 13 and I have a bed on about half of it. Last year I started with 8 x 15kg bags and added 1 or 2 as necessary (about every 10 days or so).

Should have said, I have rubber mats down too, but like a deepish bed.

When I used them before they recommended 8 bags but oberon's straw pellet bed thread makes me think its better to put more so I reckon 12, think I'd keep adding one every week needed or not to keep it nice and deep

I started the bed off using 6 x 10kg bags in a 10.5ft aprox x 12ft stable. Depth about 2" when first put down. when it fluffed up depth went to about 4". Now a nice solid 4". Don't have banks though.

Excellent thanks all! I'm going to go for 8 in each stable, reckon I will probably have some bags left over as one is for a pony and he has a relatively small area of bedding.

Haha with this pony they are most certainly not!! He cement mixes his bed overnight, the more bed there is, the more you throw out in the morning! I have tried all amounts of bedding and less is most definitely more in this case :-)
