Hi All,

I am thinking of swapping onto woodpellets after reading lots about them.

Does anywhere do free mini (sandwich bag) size samples? I would really like to have a look at some before committing to a pallet full.

Also for a normal 12x12 stable with a full bed how many bags did you use to set up and how many bags do you generally use per week to top up? (tidy gelding that will be deep littered)

I'd start with 10 bags or so in a stable that size. How many each week I found depended on the make and the horse. On verdo I went through 3 bags a week for an average horse, 4 for a wet one. Liverpool wood pellets, 2 for average and 3 for wet. Five star (now through Eden) 1 a week for average 1 1/2 -2 for wet.
I don't think I you'll get a true idea on if they will suit you until
You have used them for at least 1/2 a pallet full. I experimented with how much wet to leave in, whether to wet or put in dry the new bags etc etc until I found what worked for each horse (and me) why not try them for a bit? Five star used to let you bit a half pallet trial, not sure if the others do. If you search wood pellet bedding there are loads of threads, some with photos of beds
