I currently have shavings beds ontop of rubber mats. Does anyone know if it would be ok to put wood pellets straight on top or would i need to wet the pellets down first?. Also, when you first water down the pellets, how long till you can put the horses on it?. Thanks :-)

I have a smelly wet horse and I have tried different combinations of beds. Best I found was shavings down, sprinkle the soaked pellets or dried pellets depending how wet your horse is on top then sort of mix them in with a shavings fork. Left us with no smell and dry bed so will be trying the same again this year I think. I don't think there is any amount of time you should leave the bed for before putting your horse on. The pellets don't really seem wet just fluffed up so you can put horse away straight away; I did anyway.

Oo I can't stand to mix wood pellets with anything else! 9 or so of the premium bags make the most beautiful big white bed and horse likes to sleep on it! Hope it works out for you though :) Best bedding and most cost effective IMO
