I put my bed down last week and so far am pleased enough with it. It has its advantages aswell as disadvantages but for the price and the fact i no longer stink after mucking out i'm staying with it!

The only real problem i am finding is that it really does suck moisture from everywhere (which is great my stable is bone dry and much fresher)
But... my horses poo is all dry and crumbly and for some reason getting scattered all over the place then as its so dry breaks up into tiny bits which i cant even see close up then i stand back to look at my perfect bed- (Its very easy to do banks and make very very neat which i love) Its like a dalmatian! with tiny black spots everywhere!??

I use a shavings fork and do pick up bits by hand but it seems impossible- any ideas?
oh and they dont fall down when i chuck the bed up like shavings would!

I find this tends to happen at the beginning when the bed is not fully watered, once it has more water in it the moisture wont get sucked out of the droppings.

I tend to soak a few bags of the pellets in a wheel barrow when the bed is new - 2 bags + a bucket of water + half an hour = nice fluffy bed that doesn't dry everything out!

I really like them and won't be going back to shavings or straw again!

Oh ok thanks, maybe it is too dry.
Do you water it often? I added water when it was put down last Tuesday but not since. I have not added any more bedding and my horse is dry anyway so maybe it does just need a bit extra now and then.

not to hijack the thread but how much water do you need to use per bag ?
i only use a thin layer under staw so want to make up half a bag in a big bucket but not sure how much water to use ?

I just emptied loads onto the floor and hose piped them so i dont really know! sounds like i got it wrong anyway!
