Moving to a yard with american barn stables, thus no straw allowed so looking at my options, wood pellets look great, and was wondering how long people find a ton lasts, and does it actually live up to the hype.

Or do any one find shavings cheaper?

help me please!

I find wood pellets are cheaper than shavings,
I do find them a pain in summer as they can get really dusty if you don't keep up with watering them
They are worth trying and see if you like them

I've just changed on to wood pellets after years of using shavings and I think there brill wish I changed over years ago and there cheaper xx

I thnk they are great but I don't agree about cleaner rugs! If your horse is wet and lies down the wood pellet dusty pieces stick to it and get it all yucky. I use shavings and deep litter, with my deep litter being wood pellets underneath and shavings on top. Wood pellets are the best for absorbing I have found!

I have changed over from Bliss bedding to wood pellets, they were mixed to start with, ie I didn't get rid of bedding already there. I like. The wood pellets, but it is costing me more on the pellets than the Bliss, agree his rugs are still covered in poo. A lot of people on the yard have tried the wood pellets, but have gone back to the bedding previously used. We have to have bedding provided by the yard, but do have a choice.
