Just been researching wood pellets and cat litter pellets as I am looking for something to put UNDER the mats as well as on top in the field shelter, so wanted cheapo and bulk (and have cats, so would be good to lessen the shopping!!). Found this from Eden:

Now, That divided by 65 is £4.30! Considerably cheaper than others and they still say dust free and no additives. Is there something I'm missing, here? Has anybody used cat litter pellets instead of 'equine' wood pellets?

the only immediate thought I have is - are the cat litter ones made of horse friendly trees?
Do you mean with regards to tannins etc, such as oak, or sycamore? In which case, the toxic components are in the leaves and seeds. I have, however found an even cheaper option - Lidl 10 Kg non-clumping litter is under £2. Sounds like a good shelter bed to me (they don't sleep in there - it's to improve drainage)! :D
