Wood pellets (White Horse Energy 'Platinum Plus') - experiences?

I have two horses, and one is particularly wet and messy. I have tried a number of different wood pellets in the past ranging from Aquamax (v good but pricey) to LWP and Eden Wood Pellets.

I have seen some good reviews for the White Horse Energy 'Platinum Plus' pellets, but there are reviews saying the bags are very week and split.

Does anyone have any experience of this type of pellet, and have any comments (good or bad?)

I use WHE Woodlets and their bags are quite tough, you have to use a knife or scissors to open them. Of course any bag can split if it's caught against something sharp but normally, the Woodlet bags are tough as old boots; I've had some stored outside for nearly a year and they're still as tough.
 
My yard has just started supplying verdo wood pellets.....I like them, easy to muck out the wet elephant and the box walking little horse. I like a nice white big shavings bed but this i am hoping will save me money over the winter.
 
The pellets are very good- the bags are thin and split.I have used duct tape to seal splits in the bags. It is ok at the moment, but you will need to store the bags somewhere very dry as the split bags could let the bags of unused pellets absorb water.
 
Was just thinking yesterday that I had a lot of bedding in my stable. I have been putting one a week in , and my bedding is building up. These pellets are good, I have never even thought about putting a second bag in.I was happy with the pellets I had before I started to use these, but these are better.

I bought a full pallet of white horse platinum this year, and wish I hadn't:(
The bags are rubbish- loads had split.
Initially I was really pleased anyway, because they are lovely and white- whiter than liverpool wood pellets I used last year.
However, the particle size of the white horse platinum once soaked is significantly smaller than the liverpool, (I had a couple of bags of liverpool left, so could make a direct comparison) and they go very dusty quite quickly, so I need to keep damping them - I didn't have this problem with the liverpool pellets.
The white horse are absorbent, but the dust is ridiculous- it forms a thick layer on the edges of walls, windowsills etc :(
 
I had a pallet dropped to my door as i always do. Can not get lorry on yard . It was a nightmare. Bags split when taken them in to car. Then again when taken them out car. most of the bottom bags got duck tape . Other then that i find them good.
 
Are LWP really worth the extra?

I hear a lot if people rave about them. Just had a look at the website.

I pay 4.75 per 15kg for Verdo, with free delivery. If I go on for LWP Brites Premium it will cost me an extra £20 if I buy 34 bags, and a whopping £50 extra to buy 17 bags, same weight.

If they are worth it I will try some, but are they that much better?
 
I am curious why would you would buy specific equine wood pellets that are 20% Vat rated. Heating pellets Vat at 5% and do the same job. I have tried both to see if there is any difference there was not.
Hope this helps save you some cash to buy more treats for your horse.
