Hey guys
Im changing my horses bedding and im now really intrested in wood pellets but theres only one person on my yard who uses them and they seem to be holding up well as her horse has been on 6month boxrest and her stable does not smell at all she also said it takes her no time at all to muck out
but would like to know your opinions
Pros/Cons?
Best brand (theres lots!)
How does it work?- i find it odd to add water to something i want to absorbe liquid.
best way to deal with it?how often to take wet out ect.
Sorry lots of questions.
I have one horse on rubber matting and soon as i find somewhere thats not going to cost me the earth the other horse will be on it aswell :)

Pros/Cons? It's the bedding that keeps on giving, as it gets damper it grows bigger. The bedding is stable and you get a great base with it so it doesn't move.
Best brand (theres lots!) I like Corley Biowood

best way to deal with it?how often to take wet out ect. I do mine as a half bed on matting. I use a shaving fork to pick up the poos, give them a shake on the fork and only the poo is put in the barrow. I also use a garden rake to remove all dropped hay as I find this seems to make the bed wetter if not removed. Wet is left for quite a while until it comes to the surface, then the wet patch is removed by scraping the dry surface away and forking out the now hard set wet patch. I add two bags a week when they're in overnight, I add water to every bag but some people don't add water. It's personal preference.
