I have lazy little mare who spends most of her time relaxing ! when she decides to get up her fleece rug is covered with shavings, they do stick don't they, a good shaking removes lots but not all, how to stop them sticking, any ideas ?

Drives me mad too! My shettie is on deep shavings and I can guarantee every time I give her a good groom and brush out her gorgeous long black mane and tail she then goes for a roll in the shavings and gets completely covered! Wee pest!

I think that I just have to give them a good shaking and put up with the mess on the yard, these rugs are so good I wouldnt want to be without. I have noticed that my old ones don't pick up so many shavings so maybe when my new one`s get a bit more worn they will be better. thanks for interest.

A small amount of coat shine (or even furniture) polish sprayed lightly over the surface helps, more shavings will come off when you shake the rug

Works on tails that get full of shavings too

While your mare is still wearing the fleece, get one of those flicker type dandy brushes and simply brush them off while in the stable. None wasted then.
