Wood stain for stable doors etc

Hi, might be a silly question but is there a best kind of wood stain to get for stable doors etc which is safer to the horse?

I always use Ronseal

I use Sadolin - also been recommended linseed and white spirit but haven't tried that yet. The people at Jon Williams Stables are very nice to talk to about such things.
