The pace is slow, a contented walk
loose reins, with a hand on my thigh
relaxing into the movement
before asking for a transition
rising to the trot
feeling the breeze in my face
lightly I squeeze with my leg
and we move into canter
the trees surround us but we are free
I take the weight of his back
a smile on my face as we fly through the woods
his ears are pricked, my hands light and relaxed
seated in the saddle, at one with my stead.
