Yesterday I schooled my lad and although it wasnt super perfect and my transitions were B*****ks I am still chuffed with myself and the horse. For a start I didnt have a martingale on due to a sore on his chest and for once his head wasnt sky high and giving me a bloody nose :p. We walked a straight line from A to C. And I wasnt like a sack of potatoes when we cantered :eek:. My hands were still!
I know that may not sound like much but it is to me! :D:D:D
Such a change from when I first got him 3 year ago when he wouldnt even school without catleaping and spinning circles.
This isnt a question or anything, I just wanted to tell the world how chuffed I am and to remind people you dont have to have a highly schooled horse to enjoy yourself. (Not that there is anything wrong with that! :p)
Just when ever you have a downer day with your horse just remember how far you came and chin up!

Sorry for pointlessness but I had to write it down!

thats fantastic, its all about the fun!! and am sure ur transistions will get better ;)
i was made up today because we jumped a big log- i was like this :D foor the rest of the day xx

Thanks hamish :D. And well done on your log! I nearly wee myself with excitement when I find a log or a fallen down tree in the woods. Its like the local horsie hotspot if it has been windy the day before, You have to be quick though because the forestry commision move them :p.

Thanks Mrs Mozart, I hope your okay after your previous thread on career change, I was going to comment but there was plenty of posts. I think you deserve a giant mug of hot choccy with whipped cream and sprinkles for that. Nothing wrong with aiming higher and following your dream I say, not the end of the world if doesnt work out anyway, you just end up finding something else to do :D

Well done!

I know how you feel - since getting my boy a few months ago we have been jumping logs and I even did my first ever sponsored ride the other day - things I would have been far too scared to have done before! Our schooling leaves a lot to be desired, he knows what to do, just expects me to ask properly, and he hates schooling so at times it is very hard work.

Glad you are enjoying your neddy - its the best feeling in the world!

Yay well done you and it's not silly or pointless. I'm happy today as I took the horrid one hacking. Not a big deal to most but a huge deal to us. I hope your schooling continus to be a sucess from now on. :D:D:D

Well done to laura Wheeler and Serephin!! Hey its the simple things in life that matter the most. I read your story on Horrid laura, well done for not losing your temper when he was being a git, I know some people seem to go OTT if a horse puts a foot wrong, at the end of the day they are horses! It sounded like a fun hack! And Im glad your confidence is growing Serephin! xxx

Thanks. You can't lose your temper with Horrid. If you did you would never get anywhere. The last person to hit him was my old boss when he wouldn't load in the trailer. Well he ran backwards streight at her and gave her both his back feet in her face. :( I always think when people sugest hitting a horse is the best way to get them to behave they should come and have a go with horrid and see just how far they get. I just know it will end with Horrid getting his own way as they are carted off to A&E. ;):p:D

Well that was daft of her! I really dont get people who start smacking there horses really hard to make it get in the trailer, it just makes them more scared! Some people just forget there horses and not humans. I know some horses take the p**s but theres telling off a horse and then theres just hitting a horse because it cant read the persons mind. You could set up a clinic for people who prefer to hit rather than persuade and Horrid can be the teacher! You could be making money :D!
