I am considering using fur blinkers on my spooky TB mare, has anyone used them with success? Or could they make things worse as she cannot see around her fully?
I'm not sure I would go as far as blinkers to be honest. I was advised to attach sheepskin covers to my cheek pieces. I never did get round to it mind you. I would be worried about blinkers as I think mine'd freak even more if say something noisy was coming up behind him and he couldn't catch sight of it. Good Luck!
i use them on my eventer. hes a complete nutter with his spooking and altough i dont use them hacking (they have no effect) they do seem to help him focus at events so i use them then!
Blinkers can work miracles. I work with driving horses and its amazing how quickly the babies settle on the long lines when they get in a closed bridle. Have a go with the sheepskin side pieces and see how you get on, however they can still see 180 degrees plus with these so it may not do too much but can help if he spooks at the sight of the whip or flapping legs
