Went to Sparsholt yesterday to do my last elementary (52) as im nearly out of points now, so want to wait until january until i start up again so i can qualify for elementary stuff next year. So, we only went and won it!!!!!!!!!!! I wasn't actually that pleased with my test, but i got 65.31% and was NINE marks infront of second place in the restricted section. We came 2nd overall too, so won £12

Missed out on first overall by 2marks! I beat two catherston horses - Catherston Whatadream and Catherston Guiness, so mega pleased with that too!!

Plus, it was a qualifier, so ive just qualified for the Elementary Winter Regionals!!

But, as usual all my posts have a disaster waiting at the end to do with my horsebox!!! Got halfway home smelt this funny smell, black smoke coming from engine!! We pulled in (luckily where right near a layby) smoke pouring out from the tyres and engine and this wierd burning smell - mum grabbed dogs, i got Bloss out the back (who was slightly confused as to why we were onloading on a main road!

)

There happened to be a gravel drive to our left so i just took Bloss and stood there with her. These people then came up the driveway and where like 'bring the horse down here' (!) so mum and i went down driveway, only to find a lovely farmhouse and a small private stable yard!!! We put Bloss in a stable, called for breakdown people who came in just over an hour. Decided we needed a tow back to our lorry repair place, tow came and we eventually got bk to yard at 9:15pm, after leaving sparsholt at just gone 3:30pm!

Bloss is still at other yard this morning!! Im off to collect her at 11ish, managed to skive off work, but had to come in and do a couple of bits first!! The people we met were lovely and we couldnt have been luckier to be honest - we sat in their garden and drank tea with them all afternoon whilst waiting for our recovery whilst Bloss made friends with their lovely ponies and munched her way thru their hay supply!!!!!!!!

Well done if you got this far - once again another eventful outing for me!!

(PS - nothing serious wrong with lorry - brake pads worn down to rust

so they were sticking on the whells, hence all the smoke, heat, sparks!!!)

Brilliant!! Huge well done to you and Bloss, what a fantastic way to end the season!!
That must have been scary with the lorry though...what a stroke of luck that you just happened to stop at a nice stable yard!

it was really scary to start with as we actually though the engine was going to catch fire!! Once it had stopped smoking tho we felt a lot better!! It was really embarrassing being towed home - especialy as our lorry is hardly subtle!!

its only the winter regionals, i still have to get placed in top however many to get to the winter championships - so its unlikely il make it to be honest! But im really really chuffed to have got to the regionals in the first place!

Bloss is going away to be schooled to medium level for a week, as im currently confusing the hell out of her in halfpass!! Hopefully she'l come back a medium ace!!

They are usually pretty competitive. But you can be proud of getting to regionals. And enjoy it! You never know! Well done.

PG - that is great news, well done you. Which regionals will you go to, Addington or Kingston M ?

You've loads of time to sort out the leg yeilding, if I remember correctly you have said previously you struggle with them (sorry if I've got that wrong). Try and go out H/C and do E52 (if that's the one they are using) as much as possible, and of course you're in with a fighting chance of qualifying to the champs - well done again....

Thanx TOG - is that the one they usually use then? Ive done it everytime out for the last 4 outings, and not got below 65% in it - as im picking up marks in other places where people are obviously loosing them. Im going to be doing a couple of HCs a month. Which do you think would be best for me to go to? KM or Addington? I always used to compete at KM, but didnt like the judging to i stopped. I suppose it must be ok for regionals tho, so il probably go there as she'l know where she is and be more relaxed there.

Having done them both as Regionals I prefer KM, especially if it's in the winter because you will warm up indoor, I also prefer the atmosphere. Also as Addington are re-developing there might be one or two building works going on which might be distracting.

It has always been E52 so unless something changes I assume it will be that one again - Hils might know more on that front. If you're getting 65% + each time you are certainly on the right track so you've got it all to play for, really work on the your weaker areas between now and then because if you picked up one mark for each imagine what score you would have then!

It's all sooo exciting (says me throwing up as I'm competing on Thursday at the champs and really nervous!)

Well done for qualifying. It may be worth remembering that if you do decide to compete at the winter regionals you won't be able to do the Area Festival at elementary level next year. I only mention this as I seem to remember you saying in an earlier post that you were not going out again till Jan so you could stay on elementary points until you got the opportunity to qualify for the Area's next year. However with a bit of luck you will qualify for the Area's at Medium!!
