Saturday is the day! Ronnie, my very own hairy Irish cob finally arrives!
I have saved up since i was 6 for this! pennies and pounds! haha

I'm starting to get nervous now though, excited but nervous. His patch is all set up in the field near the trailer so i don't have to negotiate the inquisitive crew galloping over to introduce themselves! All his stuff is downstairs in my living room piled high ready to be driven up to the field.

Now lovely people, any first time horse owner advice to give me ?

(I've even spotted the OH, who only a few months ago refused to even touch a horse looking at the mens section in the Robinson's catalogue! hahaha)

Heres the cheeky lad:

Oh he's lovely!!! My advice is take it 1 day at a time and give yourselves time to bond. Had a few ups & downs with Bob in the first 18 months but we got there in the end and I wouldn't part with him now (okay so I do threaten him with being sold every now & then - but we both know it's a hollow threat!).

Enjoy!!!

oh how exciting for you, just enjoy yourselves is the best advice...have your farrier and Vets number on your mobile and any field friends numbers incase of anything.

Really just do worry about anything so long as he has what he needs by the likes of food, water and all that and any rugs etc...then you'll do just fine...enjoy it!!!

Advice? Hmm theres loads but mainly: Let him settle in when he arrives and understand that it sometimes can take a while for owner/horse to bond (with my stubborn head strong mule it took 12 months+!!)

Advice-take as much advice and help as you need, there isnt something i dont learn each week about horses!!

Good luck and repost when you get him x
