How do you collect yours at the post office? they phased the "giro" books out two years ago? I never wanted mine to go into the bank but they said if I didnt give them my bank details they'd not give me child benefit.

But they will still have you childrens names, DOBs and your address along with your's and their NI numbers. This is what they need for identity theft ,the bank details isn't really the big problem here.
 
it's still an account. My bank account is only used for Child benefit (and I never touch it), but I still had to give my children's details in order to get child benefit. DOB, address, my NI number, my DOB....



A criminal could take out credit in your name with just those details. I'm afraid it isnt just the bank details that are the concern...

I'm really not trying to pick a fight but ....

Actually TNT isn't to blame - they handed over the mail as per their spec, with everything accounted for.
 
i recieved a letter yesterday from the child benefit office,
it was an appologie , because all my details was on those discs,
im not a happy bunny, but i dont know what i can do about it
 
This is just another huge cock up by a government who don't seem to have a clue what they are doing.The government is being lead by someone who wasn't elected to his office by the people it was given to him as a parting gift from a man who was fed up of the post now he had satisfactorily made his wife a multi millionairess due to her getting a head start on the Human Rights Legislation brought in by her husband. The longer they stay in power the more above the law & above criticism they feel they are.
