My friends daughter is currently on work experience with the NZ eventer Craig Nicolai near Reading. She seems to come home exhausted but very happy having learned loads. She's riding three/four horses each day and having lessons so her riding is improving a lot. He's got quite a big yard near Reading (about 35 horses I think) so it's not an easy life but he has a very diverse range of horses - dressage, SJ, eventers, breaking and rehab so her experience is much broader than if she were on a yard which was only dealing in one discipline. She seems to be learning a lot about yard management, feed regimes etc. etc. which will no doubt hold her in good stead should she want to work on a yard after college. I think that he takes on working pupils and work experience throughout the year. I'm not sure what area you are in but PM me if you want his contact details and I'll get them for you.

I did mine with Rachel Hunt (I am showing my age now!) when she was at the peak of her eventing career and it was just fab - I learnt so much, met the NZ Olympic team when they were based there, went to loads of events and ended up working there at weekends and holidays. I just found her number and phoned her up to ask if I could do my work experience there - easy as that
