I've done horse based WE with a competition yard, equine vets, livery yard & training centre & equine physio and at a tackshop/feed merchant.

I am sure you can find some work experience that will be much more beneficial and interesting than working on a yard!!! The opportunities are endless to get some decent intresting and useful experience...equine vets, horse dentists, physio people, remedial farriers, hydro centres, feed manufacturers, saddle makers...the list goes on!

i disagree with this! i have no intention of working in a manual equine job, but i did my work experience at Talland School of Equitation, and had a truly inspiring two weeks. would recommend to anyone!

We offer work experience for anyone interested, it's a mixture of eventers/stud and retired horses.
(not huge just 10 boxes but 40 odd horses).
We put you up in a private annex but you eat/socialise with the family and get lessons too, plus go to competitions with us.
People who have been (vet students etc) reckon they learned a lot and enjoyed it too. pm me for info if you like.
(we understand Mancunian as well being Northerners..
