When I am not at college I can work my mare 4 times a week. Ideas on a postcode of how to vary her work! I have realised she needs to do different things that will make her think each time I ride to stop her getting bored, spooking and subsequently dumping me. :o

All I do is school at the moment unfortunately. No hacking as I don't have anyone to go with, but I am working on it! So ideally she would be hacked at least once a week. What else could I do with her? She is good to lunge but don't want to be making her too fit which will help her be silly when I get on.

I know you said you dont want to lunge too much.
But you could lunge over raised poles.
It will help with flexibility and suppleness.
Really get her concentrating and listening to your voice.

You could hack, school x2 and lunge, split it up depending om how she copes.
Would lunging then two days of schooling then a hack as a reward work?
or school, lunge, hack, school?

Okay thanks for the idea. Have debated lungeing her over fences to get her back into jumping as she seems to like it and we've only ever done diddy x poles when she can do 2ft 9 easy apparently.

Long reining and work in hand are brilliant for building up suppleness, and adding variation.

Also pole work; lay the poles out in a square on the ground, not touching at the corners, and ride over, through, diagonally, change pace in the square, halt and ride on, shoulder in around the outside, travers/renvers too. Do a sort of leg yield along the poles (forelegs on one side, hinds on the other), teach your pony to fetch, play football, loads of stuff.

Good idea about the square. Can't teach her any tricks.
