Hi everyone.

Has anyone on here worked as a groom in any European countries such as Germany, Spain, Italy, Portugal etc?

I am looking into going to work in another country for a few months if I can find something that is suitable. I just wondered what other people's opinions of it are, and also the best places to look for these kind of jobs. I have been looking on Yard and Groom for the last few days, reading the job adverts make it seem even more tempting!!

Hi. I worked in Italy when I was 20 for a year. I had just passed my AI and the employers always took their grooms/instructors from that college. My friend and I went out there together. I had a fabulous time. We had 10 riding school horses, three yearlings and two eventers to compete, it was a wonderful job. We had a house to share with one other Brit who looked after the small farm and olives/vinyard. There was a car to share and a pool. It was one of the best years of my life! As well as that year abroad I had three other years abroad, although not with horses, and I then studied languages. All three of the other years are very special memories too.

I would look on Facebook sites, I used to follow a good page called something like grooms and riders, a lot of their jobs were abroad and often made me wish that I was twenty years younger and single again!
