Just planning ahead while I wait to see if it's going to stop raining before we go for our lunchtime stroll:)

Now, I don't want a puppy YET - probably not for a couple of years, so no need to look for litters - BUT:

What am I looking for in a well bred puppy?
What health tests need doing?
Do I look for lots of FTCHs in pedigrees or not - does that make for too sharp a dog for someone just looking for a pet to have a laugh with and work a bit?

I know all about how to spot a good breeder and avoid your BYBs - just wondering what specifically to look for within the breed:)

Oh, and any cute puppy pics will go down a treat too;)

I was warned off the Maesydderwen line (or any line where the common traits are lively and quick) as they are very lively and, well, quick :D

Bomber (10mth) is by Maesydderwen Silhouette and he is totally awesome BUT I do feel like he should be off trialling or doing work way beyond the pet antics I do with him, because he really is incredibly sharp and needs such a lot of stimulation  ...I am trying to pursuade my Dad to go shooting with him once he is older :D

Email my Mummy on NOBs, she will give you all the help you could need! I think she will warn you to steer clear of lots of red in the pedigree, her first Cocker had loads of FTCH and he was way too clever!

Her current superstar and young pup are perfection, so just copy her and you won't go wrong :D

And cos you asked for photos...

And so he doesn't feel left out, my Dad's dog (who also a pretty brilliant worker and you couldn't ask for a better dog in the house!)

Just a suggestion from a bald headed old man, teach your cocker pup discipline from the earliest age. "Sit" before they get food, for example. And get yourself a good book -- Erlandson, Moxon, Irvin, Carlton, etc.

Put the Sit in early and they'll do it without thinking. Wait until they are older and it will be almost impossible!

Dry Rot - tell me about it, young Hen is a case in point:rolleyes: Wicked spangle that he is - although he is getting there now.

These pups are all gorgeous - in a few years time I will definitely be looking for a small acolyte for Henry to lead astray:D
