Don't suppose anyone can recommend me a good insurer for working dogs? A lot of insurers have in their fine print that claims while working will be excluded (I'm told) and so wondered who you good people use?

If i had to claim I know I could lie and say I was out walking with the dog but there is the whole fraud thing, the moral thing...and it's just not something I would do.

There is an insurer my vets won't work with (and I'm sure a lot of people will know who it is but I'm guessing I probably shouldn't name them) but other than that I'm not fussy. I'm aware BASC do one, as do the Countryside Alliance, are there others?

Thank you very much

(Just to add I've never insured a dog in my life before and no one I know insures them either)

I'm not too fussy about price (it's only the new one getting insured), I'd just rather have a reliable company who don't take six months to pay out! Thanks again, I'm away to look them up now.

I didn't realise that most companies excluded gun dogs. Have just looked at the small print of mine, and guess what gun dogs are excluded.
Time to look for a new insurer. Thanks for making me aware of this out now rather than when it was too late.

No bother, it was only when I started googling that I found out and only because an off the cuff remark from a friend. Glad I've managed to help someone out :)

NFU and Petplan both insure working dogs (although I got the Petplan quote through BASC) and have ended up going with NFU - mainly because of the recommendations here. Not cheap but worth it for the piece of mind.
