I am thinking about doing a working hunter comp at the weekend, but depending on tack/clothing will be the decider whether i go or not.
I have a close contact Newmarket jumping saddle and newmarket bridle, is this colour acceptable, can i use a dutch gag, if not what bits are acceptable, what colour numnah?
What do i need to wear, i have black dressage jacket or tweed hacking jacket, can i wear boots with chaps?
what is the procedure for a working hunter class, i,e do you have to walk trot canter around for the judge, does the judge ride your horse or am i confusing this with something else,
all help very apprectiated as this is not my usual discipline.

the tack is fine! wear your tweed jacket and if you are riding a horse then you wear boots and chaps or long riding boots. in horse working hunter you jump 8 to 12 fences and then you do an indivudal show, consistin of walk trot canter on both reins and a gallop on one rein. the show is short but sweet! then you may have to strip your horse (take off saddle, boots and martingale) and trot your horse up for the judge. then the judge generally calls some back in and then, if they have a riding judge then the judge rides the horse. then you are placed!

good luck in the working hunter, its just a bit of fun!

also if the horse is over 15hh the judghe may ride instead of doing a show.
Also chaps arnt realy acceptible, long black boots or short black boots with gaitors are better.
Dutch gag is fine but double, pelhm or snaffle would be better, however you have actualy got to get a clear round to get a place so what ever bit the horse jumps best in!
If your horse wears boots for jumping they must be removed for the showing part

You should wear your tweed jacket!

Really wouldn't worry about the kit too much, in most working hunters the clear round is the most important thing, as if you knock one down you may not even get to do the showing part!
