Working hunter/jump saddles?

It is tricky, as if you go clear, you then don't want something with massive knee rolls which ruins the front of your horse. Equally, if you need knee rolls to jump, then there is not point having a straight cut saddle which you can't properly in.

You may need to try a few and see how well you can jump in the straight cut saddle you normally show him in. I always did cob workers (when they were 3'3/3'6) in a standard straight cut showing saddle. I generally managed to cling on and go clear, but did get jumped out of the saddle at Hickstead one year, much to the surprise of my steed.

I agree totally with FMM, a saddle you can jump round in is worth more than one that shows off shoulders beautifully, but makes you ride like a muppet! Open workers is 1.15m I think, so the jumping is 'Quite Important'!!!

Yeah see my current saddle is a forward cut jump as G has SUCH a big movement over a fence I really do get thrown and so need the security aspect

I think I'll stick with it for now as safety to me is more important than winning and we also go XC so really need it then!
