In simple turns you will jump a round of jumps (very simple, often a figue of eight!)
All the clears (or some with faults, up to judge) will then go back into the show ring all together and will trot, canter round etc and do an indivual show
You will be given marks for jumping, show, manners etc and the person with the most marks wins :)

Ahh, Nice and simple :D Thanks :D

Do you know the dress code? Do I need a different jacket as I only have a black sj one.
Sorry for all the stupid questions lol (you got to learn somewhere :D)

Yes, a tweed jacket really is better. It doesnt matter if it's a posh tweed - keep an eye out in charity shops as I got my first tweed jacket as a kid from there! Then (if your pony is under 148cms and not native) johdpur boots and elasticated clips under your boots to keep your johddies down (these are very cheap and look good!). Then go for a blue or black hat silk or a covered hat if you already have one. When you get your number at the show, if you round the edges of so that they are a curve rather than a point, the number looks much better (this is also a free way to look good!). MAke sure your hair is in a hairnet.

For the horse, you want him plaited up and looking nice and smart. You can wear brushing boots for the jumping phase, but take these off before you go back in to do your individual show. If your horse goes well in a snaffle, then this is ideal. Wear a numnah that is dark in colour, or even go without a numnah, and pair this with a dark girth...

The first jumping phase is marked for style so don't rush it. Just get in there, take all of the time you want and use your corners - you want it to look as effortless as possible. With the individual show, just do a nice little figure of eight to show that your pony can walk, trot and canter on either rein and then if you fancy it, at the end, push the pony on and have an extended canter/gallop.

You want to show that the pony would be a good looking mount to do a days hunting on, so he is mannerly and will slow down, but will also push on and jump when it is asked.

Good luck - I'm sure you will have a blast! WHP classes really are fun!
