Working Hunter Question

Hello everyone (if anyone remembers me that is) I'm sure i've asked this question before, but do I need to register a horse with SHBGB (is that them?) to do Novice Working Hunter classes at shows with all the affilated classes for RIHS/HOYS etc, becasue i honestly can't understand all the 500 pages of stuff i've just printed off.

I believe you can do them on a day ticket and if you qualify you have to become a full member.

I am entering B&W but not paid for a day ticket as not interested in the qualifiers just doing it for an experience. Am pretty sure I can do this? I think its more complicated than eventing! Also am pretty sure that if you do want to be considered for qualifiers you have to pay a levy fee?

When competing shadow for qualifiers at county shows he had to be registered- he already was but the one time i forgot to put the info on his entry form they returned my entry- so i re-entered with the correct numbers and i was then allowed to compete. Probably not useful answer to you though!

I believe with the SHB(GB) that you can do a class on a day ticket. I have looked on their website for the current rules and can only find the following:

"The Society now offers a temporary show hunter registration to competitors who wish to compete at ONE qualifying show for a fee of £10. If the horse subsequently qualifies then they will need to complete their full registration before the championship and the £10 fee will be refunded"

However, they do not explain the rules on the website so I am not sure whether the rider and owner need to be members and it is just he horse that is allowed the temporary ticket.

I also am not sure whether you have to be a member to compete in novice classes.

I think your best bet is to email the society and ask the relevant questions as the rules change each year so any info you get from here is likely to be out of date!
