Depends on how good they are - county standard could mean able to get round a course or have a real chance of getting place at HOYS. I would have thought for a HOYS qualified horse (i.e. consistently placed at the top of the line at county shows) would be £12-20k - less if they have not had consistent results and more if they have been placed highly at HOYS. Also age should be taken into account.
Thanks, and especially thanks FMM. I showjump and bought the horse to jump, but my farrier kept banging on about doing workers with him. He won first time out at a local county show and qualified for HOYS 2nd time in Search 4 a Star. We were also placed at New Forest in the open workers. He is 6yrs old and jumping newcomers, but to be honest he doesn't give me that amazing feeling over a jump that makes me think he'll be anything more than a 1.25m horse. He does however jump consistently, he's pretty and seems to like posing for judges and cameras, and also gives a super ride. I'm thinking of selling him as I work away a lot and think he would make a better working hunter than showjumper... He's such a sweetheart though, but showing has been harder than I imagined! 4am starts and plaiting with thread! Thanks again!
You're welcome! Just to note, the SFAS classes will not commaned such a high price as if he had qualified for the open workers - although he may well be able to get placings once he has contested more of these classes. He sounds like you could have a great season next year and possibly get to the open HOYS class - are you sure you want to sell him? !!!
