Hi Guys

I am considering buying an 11yo working hunter. He's had lots of success and while he is aged out of Dublin now, he is still suitable for competing in UK big shows like HOYS quals or Hickstead etc since they don't have the 10 year old limit that Dublin imposes. One thing I am not sure about is- his wind was done last year. Is there any rule that prevents him competing in UK after a wind operation? Dublin has this rule, hence I'm wondering if that's just them or elsewhere also? I checked the rules but didn't see wind mentioned....but thought I'd double check before buying! Any other restrictions I should know about please share! :) Thanks so much in advance

Same over here, and if he's competed at that level, everybody will know he's had an op.

I think the wind op section was taken out a couple of years ago. But I agree, if you like the horse enough then go through every rule book with a fine tooth comb.

The SHGB used to have the rule of no hobdays or tiebacks but I don't think that is the case now. If the surgery was a success and the horse no longer makes a noise it would not put me off buying him. Just double check the rules for yourself rather than take advice here.

I was going on the old SHB(GB) rules. If they have rescinded this, then why do they ban plastic shoes in show hunter classes? A hunter SHOULD be clean in it's wind, surely?

Why dont you just call them and ask the question but most of the rule books you can use Control F and search for words so should be pretty easy. If the wind operation was just because he made a noise then I wouldnt be too bothered.
