I'm currently in my last year at Oxford Brookes studying Equine Science and Management and am looking to move to America to work afterwards. I know it's a while in the future but I was wondering what peoples experiences are with working there? I'm looking to specialise with Hunters/Jumpers/Eventing/Ponies or on a stud. It's something I've been interested in for a while, but have only recently decided to go ahead with it! Lots of plans to make,

Thanks guys :D

Try the Chronicle of the horse website, the US equivalent of H&H. Good forum on there for advice on matters "American".

I have lived in Lexington, Kentucky for the past 9 months and love it here. In terms of where to go for horses, Lexington has the biggest horse population in the world - mainly thoroughbreds, but there is also a good sport horse circuit and we have the Kentucky Horse Park here which hosts big events all year round (Rolex 3DE plus shows basically every week of the summer for various breeds / disciplines, pony club and young rider champs etc). The whole place revolves around horses and there is huge numbers of ex pats here from England/Ireland who come over for work. Florida has a massive sport horse circuit - a lot of sport horse people spend summers in Kentucky and winters in Florida, shipping the horses at the end of each place's respective season. I think California also has a good sport horse circuit too.

I love living here, Americans have some odd ideas on things (guns anyone?!) but I have felt at home from the moment I arrived, and will be sad when I leave next year.
