Just thinking ahead a bit here.
Vardi has been with Kelly for nearly 4 months now (time has flown!) and is going great guns, he is hacking out happily in company front or back, she is going to work on longer hacks with outdoor canters and also hacking out alone over the next month or so but thinks that due to the general laid back attitude and the way he has taken everything in his stride it will not be a problem.
He is schooling happily at Prelim level and is entered into the indoor dressage league for this winter to get him out and about a bit.
He is happily going off as a companion to competitions and being ridden and led about calmly to learn that life can actually be great fun.
He is currently being used as one of the 4 horses for the pupils doing their Stage III ridden course.
He has turned into a nice well rounded person who now understands his job and is quite happy with it.
Oh and I have now ridden him, no longer feel scared by him and know he is my horse to take on again when I get back to the UK in 18 months.
So having talked to Kelly she is happy to take him on a working livery but only for a few select pupils as she does not want novices on him as he is actually quite talented and to be honest not a novice ride. So working livery for say two days a week, Kelly riding him 3 days a week.
I am tempted to just keep him on exercise livery as he is doing so well and I do not want anything to screw it up.
My ideal would be for a part sharer (to stay at Kelly's yard) who is someone maybe coming back into riding after a break, who would like to take lessons (can do this at own horse rates) and who would be interested in competing him at prelim level and hacking out. Kelly could then still ride him a couple of times a week to keep him up to speed. Anyone knowing of someone like this please let me know!
Obviously a sharer would need to accept that he does have sidebone so does have some limitations on what he can do. In any event I will pay remainder of livery cost, and all insurance costs.
Anyone have any thoughts?
