I would second that but you need Google Earth PRO as this lets you zoom in on the field - draw around the outline and then gives you the area in acres !! I have just bought 2 acres (part of a larger field) from a farmer and used this to check his measurements (and gained a bit more than he was going to give me !).

ets zoom in to where you want, then select satellite, then left mouse click on each point on the edge of your field, it colours in the selected area green and the field size is then given at the bottom.
