Working pupil when older?

Also in careers,thought might get a better responce in here so sorry for double post!
So,recently started helping out at an RS and I had really forgotten how much I loved the day to day stuff.
My son is nearly ready to go to school and I had always planned to return to work when he did,am now thinking I owuld love to take a WP position.

I worked at an RS for a while in my teens,am well aware of the long hours and crap money but really want to do it.Have plenty of family more then happy to help with childcare...but am a 27 year old mum,not a 16 year old fresh from school which is what I remember all the WP's being.
Would a RS take me?
Do you think my age would be a bonus or a negative?
Should I pay for stage 1 training so have some paperwork to my name before looking for a WP job?

I think a riding school would jump at the chance of employing you. You will be reliable, hard working etc and have more credibility with the clients than a 16 year old. I would investigate somewhere where you will be trained and put through your exams. Good luck.

You've obviously thought it through and I'd imagine someone would be pleased to take you on. You'd stand out in a good way I think. Best of luck!

PS I did my stage 1 about 2 years ago, and half the candidates were over 30!

It's going to be tricky to find somewhere since I cant go where the work is,but dont mind waiting for the right place.
And it definatly not the sunny weather

First day helping out was chucking it down with rain & freezing cold-but I came away remembering why I had once lived for it and want it back!

I briefly tried earlier in the year to get another working pupil position somewhere, I didn't think my age would be an issue. However the problem I found is a lot of the yards offering these positions have associations with local colleges and they will struggle to get the same funding for employing a older person that they will get for a school leaver. Thus they aren't so keen to employ the older people, I am only 25 and found this to be a real problem.
I didn't have any success finding a position but I am still hopeful I may find one in the future.
Flexiablity is the key I think, I wanted to take my horse with me that also seemed to be an issues for the yards I applied too. Also the pay will not be good. One yard I applied too, would only have paid £50 a week, I couldn't live on that.
