Does anyone know what type of horse they're looking for in a working show horse class?

I've googled and tried looking on the BSHA and LIHS websites and rules but can't find anything and don't want to enter a class if the horse is completely wrong for it.

I the idea originally was for the likes of hacks, riding horses, cobs - anything of show type but not of hunter type - to have a WH class of their own.

The horse is meant to be either hack or riding horse type (or cob if the cobs don’t have their own section) and should be turned out to that standard and judged as such. In practice, it normally goes to a heavier sort of riding horse and I’ve seen a few which I’m sure ought to be in the small hunters do fairly well.

In generally, the standard of jumping is pretty rubbish so a clear round is normally a top three! Or at least it is round here.

Brilliant, thank you both I was hoping that was the answer. He's definitely not a heavier sort of riding horse so it might be a waste of time but will try one and give it a go. Will need to try jumping in my showing bridle beforehand, it will seem very odd jumping with a coloured browband on!

I assumed the turnout for these classes would be as per “normal” WH classes. I’ve just had a look at the few videos for your class online and they all do appear to be turned out like that ie tweeds and no coloured brow bands.

Might be worth a call or email to the BSHA to check for sure?

One video of I think the final

That aside, I think these classes are fab and long overdue.

Oh, thank you so much for that. I'll give the BSHA a ring and check. The link didn't work but I tried doing a search and they do look like they might be in working hunter attire.

I'm looking forward to trying one, it might be a complete waste of time but I'm at the show for another class anyway and so it seemed like I might as well give it a go.
