Hi, I would love to see some videos of a true working trot, as at the level I compete at you see so much variation so I don't really know what I'm aiming for!!

A more forward trot seems to be the judge's preference, but I've seen some go round very steadily and still get a good score, in the same test that a floaty wb has medium'ed it's way round and scored equally as well. Does the ideal differ depending on the horse? Can it be any speed and size as long as it's workmanlike?

I'm no BD judge, so I'm not entirely sure what they look for in different types, but I was always told that it did depend on the horse to a certain extent. In general they are looking for a purposeful but well controlled trot - the sort of trot you would be happy to jump a fence off, if that makes sense.
