Re, old Horse.

Very poor in coat, very stiff when walks. Condition score was not emmaciated, but clearly very little 'fat' on him.
Hay is adequate, but not ideal regarding quality.
He had one bucket of water, so couldn't comment on that.
Conditions of stable is not good, suggested horse had some grass and stable got cleaned out.
Feet ok, teeth needs seeing to.
Feeding oats isn't ideal, suggested veteran mix and sugar beat.

He did see dad, who told him horse was ''over'' 33 years of age, (horse is not quite 'over' that yet - he is 31) and that a vet saw him within the last 2 weeks - that's news to me!!. Dad did say he would put him out at grass and if he lost further condition or was unable to trot he would have him pts.
I just hope he keeps to his word.
WHW guy was lovely on the phone, and told me it was the wake up call that father clearly needed.

Thanks for your advice and support... will keep you posted!

Well done.

No idea why the horse couldn't go out at grass - so glad that this is going to happen. And of course a rug will need to be added to the mix.

Advice your dad to get veteran cubes, rather than mix, as these can be soaked therefore making them easier to eat.

2 buckets of water, clean - ish old hay on top of dirty bedding, () a full bowl of feed which included some sugar beat and a promise of horse going out with the steers - who are on the best grass... all seen and heard it today first hand, so something at least went in yesterday! :)
