Hats off to the WHW - they really are great.

Reported a horse I was concerned about on Wednesday, horse seen and action taken on Thursday.

How's that for service to the equine community???

They certainly knock spots off the RSPCA don't they. Their Field Officers also know what they are talking about with regard to horses, unlike some RSPCA inspectors who don't seem to know one end of a horse from the other. There is an advert for a WHW Field Officer in the back of this weeks H & H, it really shows that their criteria is really strict. I know at one time a lot of the FOs were ex mounted police, not sure if that is still the case.

You're right, they won't take anyone on unless they have previously been in the armed forces or Police  unfortunately I'm NOT going to join the army so I can by a WHW officer in 20 years....

I couldn't agree more, I am loyal supporter of WHW (and previously for many years when it was still ILPH). I donate to them monthly and love getting the letters and updates from them through the post. If I had the money to rehome one of their horses I would also!

I did look into field officer work and the lady I talked with was incredibly helpful and very honest and explained how they pretty much all come from a police background (not always mounted) as the grounding in the law that they have behind them is as important as the horse knowledge. Needless to say that put me well out of the frame! Lol. But it was nice to know and very reassuring.

Well done WHW, keep up the good work! :)

Me and my friend volunteered for them at Badminton. I would recommend it to anyone they were all so lovely. We were treated really well, given a big packed lunch for when we finished and I received a thank-you letter a couple of weeks after. I think it's a sign of how efficient they are when they organise all this so well. Will always call them if need to in the future. A couple of field officers were there and they were great.

What were you volunteering to do? Nice to hear you were well looked after. It makes people want to do it again.
