Im trying to find out how long it takes after worming for the belly to go down, some sites say its only foals who really get worm belly, anyone had any experience of this?

(rescue project a friend is working on, we've wormed the mare, worms have come out in poo but belly is HUGE)

I don't know but I do know that they suggest taking a worm count 2 weeks afterward to see how effective it may be.

If you go onto any of the worm count sites they are very good about giving advice (I use Westgate Laboratories and they have always been very good).

Thanks for the reply, problem is I don't own her Im just trying to help her. I've started giving her small amounts of food as I've read when they are underweight to increase\introduce food gradually, my main concern is her belly and the worms, I'd just really like to know if there's anything else we can do now to help the belly go down and how long will this take? She's going to be very thin without the belly :-(

I thought she looked in foal, however reading up online it says from 5 months you would be able to see the foal moving around in the belly and there's no movement but the belly has dropped!
